gcc 2.95.1 internal compiler error

Hello,

Upon compiling the sources of DDD (data display debugger) gcc
terminates with an internal compiler error:

GNU C++ version 2.95.1 19990816 (release) (alpha-dec-osf4.0b) compiled by GNU C version 2.95.1 19990816 (release).
