egcs-2.93.20 + gftopk (teTeX) ==> optimation bug

I tried to compile the teTeX-990420 distribution with egcs-2.93.20 on
a redhat-5.2 i586 system.  Egcs configured with --enable-haifa.  The
program gftopk complains about bad gf files even if they are OK.
Recompiling gftopk with -O instead og -O2 cures the problem.  I had no
problems with 2.93.13, but 2.93.19 has the same error.
