llnlxdir segfaults under egcs 1.1b built lesstif

   One other nasty that has appeared under egcs 1.1b with linuxppc
is the following. If one rebuilds lesstif-0.86 with egcs 1.1b and then
attempts to use llnlxdir to make a ftp connection, xdir segfaults.
This occurs whether xdir is built with egcs 1.0.2 or 1.1b. Replacing
lesstif with a egcs 1.0.2 built version eliminates the problem.
