Internal Compiler Error while building egcs-1.1b on rs6000

I have been trying to build egcs-1.1b on a powerpc-ibm-aix4.3.0.0
system. I unzipped the distribution, made an object directory
outside the source tree, went into the object directory and
ran: ../egcs-1.1b/configure after setting CC to the local xlc C
compiler. The configure script detected my system ok and everything
seemed well. I then ran make bootstrap which ran successfully
for 3 hours with the occasional compiler warning which I didn't
pay much attention to. Stage 1,2 and 3 compilers were successfully
built. Then an Internal Compiler Error occurred while the standard
libraries were being built with the -maix64 option on the compiler.

The command line that failed was:

/usr/egcs/obj/gcc/xgcc -B/usr/egcs/obj/gcc/ -c -g -O2
-fno-implicit-templates  -maix64 -I../../../../egc
s-1.1b/libstdc++ -I../../../../egcs-1.1b/libstdc++/stl -I../libio
-I../../../../egcs-1.1b/libstdc++/../l
ibio -nostdinc++ -DF `for N in MAIN ADDCC ADDCF ADDFC SUBCC SUBCF SUBFC
MULCC MULCF MULFC DIVCC DIVCF D
IVFC PLUS MINUS EQCC EQCF EQFC NECC NECF NEFC ABS ARG POLAR CONJ NORM
COS COSH EXP LOG POWCC POWCF POWCI
 POWFC SIN SINH SQRT; do echo " -D${N}"; done` \
  ../../../../egcs-1.1b/libstdc++/cinst.cc -o fcomplex.o

The error it gave was:

../../egcs-1.1b/gcc/expr.c:2468: Internal compiler error in function
emit_move_insn_1

Hope I've given enough information for you,

John Eastmond.
