egcs1.1b and Signal 11

Hy,

I had problems during compiling time with egcs 1.1b. It finished always
at the same code.
I have a linux os with AMD 5X85 CPU and 64K MByte memory.

I resolved the reason:

It is highly recommend to install the newest gnu binutillities from Mai
1998 with the as 2.9.1. I got it from ftp.gnu.org.
