Hi,

I've come across an internal compiler error and egcs asked me to
submit a bug report, so here it is. I'm using the gcc guidelines for
bug reporting.

Hope this helps,
Sean.
-----

[I haven't stuck to the same order as in the gcc info - I think it
makes more sense to list the compiler and platform versions before
the bug description.]

egcs version:
gcc version egcs-2.91.57 19980901 (egcs-1.1 release)

platform:
solaris 2.5, sparc ultra 1

configure options (none unusual):
configure --prefix=/lang/egcs-1.1

compiler source modifications:
none

The following file reproduces the compiler error:
-----
enum Etype {TYPE1, TYPE2, TYPE3} ;

typedef struct {
  Etype EtypeVar ;
} StructType ;

main ()
{
  StructType S ;
  if ( S.Etype != TYPE1 ) ;
}
-----

I compiled the file using
eg++ test.cc
and got the following error:
test.cc: In function `int main()':
test.cc:10: warning: invalid use of type decl `enum Etype' as
expression
test.cc:10: Internal compiler error 40.
test.cc:10: Please submit a full bug report to `egcs-
bugs@cygnus.com'.
