C++ (?) bug still in egcs-1.1.1pre

We are not trying to fix all the reported bugs for egcs-1.1 just the critical
ones.  Some bugs will simply have to remain.

Whether or not this one gets fixed depends on whether or not someone sends me
a patch in the next few days and the risk involved with any such patch.
