bootstrapping under dec unix 4.0d

Seems that egcs 1.0.3a mis-interprets the flags for the native cc under
dec unix 4.0d (aka alphaev56-dec-osf4.0d), that it tries to get the native
cc to use the -Wall flag when it gets to certian stages of compilation.
I'm going to try bootstrapping from gcc-2.7.2.3 (compiling now) but should
this be necessary? Or is uname just hosed, giving configure bad data?
