Internal compiler error 388, egcs-c++ cvs-980516

Trying to compile octave-2.1.6 i get this error in Array3.h
Linux-2.1.101, glibc-2.0.7, egcs-2.91.28 19980508, binutils-2.9.1.0.4
egcs configured with
--host=i586-linux --with-gnu-as --with-gnu-ld --enable-shared \
--enable-haifa
