Thanks. I just checked with the current version of egcs (CVS snapshot,
nearly equivalent to egcs-2.91.12 980302) and the problem is gone!

I suggest that you upgrade either to the current snapshot or have a 
look at egcs-1.02 which will be released in a couple of days. (Preview
versions are already available on the Cygnus site and mirrors.)
