Internal Compiler error while making Octave 2.0.9

I have not been successful in making Octave using the egcs-1.0-2a
ppc.rpm distribution on my powerbook 3400 runing linuxppc.

I have tried Octave 2.0.11 and get serious errors imediatly.
I make some progress with Octave 2.0.9 after replacing the contents
of the /octave-2.0.9/info directory with the contents of the
/glob directory and trying to eliminate places in the Makefile
that refer to info. I also had to change the name of builtins.h
to builtin.h.

Then I got the following error:

../liboctave/MArray.h:91: warning: friend declaration `class MArray<T>
operator -(const class MArray<T> &)'
../liboctave/MArray.h:91: warning: will not be treated as a template
instantiation
data.cc: In function `void symbols_of_data()':
data.cc:1171: Internal compiler error.
data.cc:1171: Please submit a full bug report to `egcs-bugs@cygnus.com'.
make[2]: *** [data.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/mnt/mac1/Pub/octave-2.0.9/src'
make[1]: *** [src] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/mac1/Pub/octave-2.0.9'

I hope I have made a correct and useful bug report.
