I ran into this as well.

I believe the bug is that the snapshot tarball, *not* the CVS tree
(having examined it via http), erroneously contains an empty file named:

  egcs-19980727/libf2c/g2c.h

I'm deleting this file in my copies of the unpacked source directory,
and restarting both my builds (Alpha and Linux). I believe this will
fix all the problems I've seen so far.

Again, this seems to be a problem only with the snapshot tarball, *not*
the CVS tree itself. How an empty file suddenly appeared in the
tarball is a mystery somebody else will have to clear up; the CVS history
seems to have no record at all of this file. Perhaps there are other
files like this that don't belong in the tarball but are there?

        tq vm, (burley)
