I'm using

  gcc version egcs-2.91.47 19980710 (gcc2 ss-980609 experimental)

compiled with egcs-1.0.3a on an alphaev56-unknown-linux-gnu.
It happened when I compiled src/widgets/moc_qscrollview.cpp from
qt-1.39-19980706.  Compiler flags are -O2 -fno-strength-reduce -fPIC.
When I change -O2 to -O, it compiles OK.
