As I believe I mentioned before, I would expect binutils to be
available along side egcs long term.  Similarly for gdb.

Both are approaching a release, at which time the "referenence"
copy would be the current official release.

Similarly for bison & flex.  Leaving dejagnu which badly needs a
new net release.

It's also worth noting that a single version may not be suitable
for a reference release -- consider Linux systems where the 
"reference" release rarely matches any official release.
