mingwin32 egcs 1.1: CC1PLUS crashes in Win95(OSR2)

Command:

g++ -c program.cpp

Symptom: crashes with this message
  CC1PLUS caused an invalid page fault in
  module CC1PLUS.EXE at 0157:00439643.

This seems so strange that I thought it might be an install error,
but I can compile, link, and run various programs successfully.
