I don't think it really tries to pick the wrong operator, it just
fails to ignore a bogus template instantiation in overload
resolution.  Or so it seems to me :-)

Thanks for your bug report, I'm installing an overly simplified
version of your testcase in the testsuite: g++.pt/overload8.C
