libio problems with egcs i86 linux 970917

I may be wrong, but this looks to me like exactly the same problem I
reported yesterday in

	http://www.cygnus.com/ml/egcs-bugs/1997-Sep/0185.html

i.e. stdio functions crash when linked with g++ instead of gcc.

Anybody? This is really driving me crazy, and I just am not knowledgeable
enough to atempt to figure this out by myself.
