	p.s. Is there a gdb anywhere that can read the debug information egcs
	writes?  4.16 says "does not support mips-sgi-irix6.2" when I try to
	configure it, and the 4.14 binaries from the SGI freeware cd can't
	read N32 debug info.

gdb 4.16 was released April 1996 which was about the same time that irix 6.2
became available, and hence couldn't contain any irix 6.2 support (it is hard
to support OS's that don't exist yet).

irix 6.2 support was added in December 1996, and will appear in the next
public gdb release.  I don't know when that will occur.  Meanwhile, you
might be able to get a copy by joining the gdb developers/testers group, but
that may be more work than you are willing to do just to get a copy of gdb.
