powerpc-ibm-aix4.2.0.0 bootstrap failure

   I have been working on and off for several weeks now trying to compile
   egcs under powerpc-ibm-aix4.2.0.0, without success.  Here is the end
   result of the latest attempt with 971207.  Has anyone been able to
   compile on this platform?

Are you using the GNU linker?  The current version of the GNU linker
does not work on AIX 4.2.  The next version will.  Try just using the
native linker.
