robust linker ld

Sirs:
    My application   80K line , works ok , but I need more options on 
the linker  to find bugs.
     Who do I contact   about the linker  LD. ?
      How do we note symbols that change size  , named   common  ?
       5.1.1 attemps to do this , but not  4.9.3  .  ?
       Does the linker always use the largest value size , for  named 
common  ?
       If the  linker  uses the first   symbol  in , and ignore the rest
       it should give a message.
       The LD is suppossed   to use the first symbol  in .   but    I 
found it not always    true. ??
