thanks for nailing this one down! I'm attaching an updated patch which
includes this fix (and still regtests cleanly).

I also verified that the patch correctly fixes the memory leaks in the
poly-dealloc examples of PR 46321 and PR 51160.

Btw, there is an example code for finalization of derived-type
components in PR 37336 (comment 6). Note that the finalization routine
is currently not called for this test case ...
