Well, so did I - but only now. Initially, emails with attachments did
not arrive at the mailing list. I realised this when looking at
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/fortran/2011-11/ - Damians reply (send 24min after
my patch) was there, my email which I had sent more than 30min before,
wasn't.
I first tried to see whether my email account or the email was blocked
(this sometimes happens at sourceware.org, if it thinks that one has
sent spam or an HTML email), but the message without attachment came
through immediately. I then suspected that my email had just exceeded
the 100 KiBi (?) limit of the mailing list - but also that email didn't
arrive. (Nor a bounce message.) I then suspected that somehow the
release notes patch triggered some spam-detection and tried it gzipped -
but without any result.
Soon afterwards, the mail server had been fixed by Christopher Faylor
and all the queued emails were sent.
Well, that's the reason that you got so many emails. And if you have
sorted them by date instead of by order in which they have been
received, you get the impression that they have arrived in the proper
order. As GCC's mail archive sorts them by the order in which they have
been received, http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/fortran/2011-11/ provides a
chronology of the receive events.
For my initial email: It was sent 16:29:33 +0100, it arrived 1 minute
later at eggs.gnu.org. And my email was then finally two hours later
finally received at sourceware.org at 17:42:07 +0000.
