Runtime Support on Windows Native GFORTRAN

I have loaded the Windows "native" binaries of GCC v 4.5.0 (i586-pc-mingw32) on my Windows Vista laptop and have been running DFT programmes successfully however, I recently dumped out an array and had NaN in a couple of entries. From websearching I was told that using the -ffpe-trap= option on the compiler would trap the situation(s) and indeed it does however, even in a the main programme, I am not getting a traceback even though I have also selected -fbacktrace. In desparation, I alse set the -fdump-core option but I get the message saying one cannot be created.
Am I doing something wrong or being unreasonable in my assumption that there could be limited runtime support in Windows Native?
