(1) Did you have a look at http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/GFortranBinaries ?
The wiki is not up-to-date (fink has now 4.5.0 and there is a build
from FX Ccoudert for snow leopard: see
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/fortran/2010-05/msg00036.html ).

(2) The builds provided by FX Ccoudert use the standard installer
and there is no need for any unusual "exact procedure", just click
the boxes.

(3) You can also use (see http://www.macports.org/ ), the choice
between it and fink is rather a matter of taste, both require
that you install some "seed", than gcc and its dependencies will
be build (it takes a couple hours depending on the machine).

(4) If you are interested by the latest OOP developments, you'll
have to look at http://gcc.gnu.org/install/ and people around
(like me) can help you for the right configure spells.
