OOP problems

As promised, PR 41656 has now been opened. 

On a slightly different issue, today's trunk gives me the following:
[sfilippo@localhost modules]$ make psb_d_mat_mod.o

Is the ICE really intended to show up? 
And while we're here, any idea how far in the future is CLASS IS ?
