I have at least one example: named constants from intrinsic modules  
are included "by value":

  $ cat a.f90
module foo
   use iso_c_binding, only: x => c_int_fast64_t
end module foo
$ gfortran a.f90 -c
$ grep -ic fast64 foo.mod
0
