For the record, you could for instance look at 
http://www.infres.enst.fr/~pautet/Ada95/a95list.htm, especially chapter 
20; that's the one about parametrized derived types.

But the main problems with length type parameters (and such) may lie in 
the details, and maybe Fortran differs from Ada in those.  But I may be 
wrong :)
