It is my understanding that the "recursive I/O" in f2003 is 
(1) not the naive one where you want to print the result of a
function that prints something itself.
(2) something with a quite convoluted example in the 2003 draft.

Now for pr30617, you can guess my point of view form the discussion
there (I have not changed my opinion, but as it seems a sensitive issue
I am keeping it for me).
