OK, probably my largest ever front-end patch (~ 4k diff), is now in  
(rev. 135513). Please CC me to characters-related regressions in the  
next few months :)  Jokes aside, I'm rather confident it won't break  
too much. Please find attached the final diff, including the  
rediff'ed intrinsic.texi.
