I do agree with you that the current requirements for ChangeLog  
entries aren't at all reasonable (or even useful) for large patches  
of this type.

One thing that you should not do, however, is to use "Likewise." for  
the first entry of a given ChangeLog file, because it looks like it  
refers to the previous entry in the same ChangeLog:

> 	fortran/
> 	* f95-lang.c (gfc_mark_addressable): Likewise.
> 	
> 	cp/
> 	* typeck.c (composite_pointer_type_r): Likewise.

Otherwise, the fortran/ part of it is OK (and thanks for CC'ing the  
fortran list!).
