I have just run the test code with an older gfortran for Intel/Tiger  
and it works as expected. I don't know what's wrong with my PPC/ 
Leopard version.

I wonder is there a good place to download the latest pre-compiled  
binaries for PPC/Intel and MacOS 10.5/10.4?
