OK, Granville, what version of binutils do you have?

I am running:

$ rpm -qa | grep binutils
binutils-2.17.50.0.18-1

and

$ rpm -qa | grep glibc
glibc-common-2.7-2
glibc-devel-2.7-2
glibc-devel-2.7-2
glibc-2.7-2
glibc-2.7-2
glibc-headers-2.7-2
