You can get instructions on how to fill the copyright paperwork at http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/CopyrightAssignment 
  [1]. On the other side of things, there are many junior jobs that  
you can start with to start contributing; I'd advise, for example,  
starting picking smaller tasks/bugs in the bugzilla. Help triaging new  
and unconfirmed bug reports is also always appreciated.

[1] This paperwork is adequate only if your employer can have no claim  
on your future GCC work, i.e. if you work on GCC outside your job and  
use no university resources.
