I had a very nasty moment, when upon updating on my x86_ia64 all hell
broke loose and every testcase was broken.... Rebooted and all was
well.  Phew!

Thanks to all for the help - I realise in writing this that I
completely forgot the 'abiguous' but everything else was corrected.
