runtime error message

Oh, there is no mystery with the code, and I have attached it here. 
Just trying to save you folks from going on a wild goose chase if it was 
some dumb error on my part.  I have tried the program with an very old 
version of gfortran (4.0.2 20050901) under Linux (x64_64-suse-linux) and 
the program works without error.

The errors were generated when I was using the prebuilt binary (windows 
native) under windows downloaded from the gfortran wiki link.

I do not believe that the error is necessarily related to file sizes, 
but the files are not that large anyway (none are larger than 4MB).
