Maybe I am doing something wrong but I see:

/svn/trunk/gcc/testsuite/gfortran.dg/string_0xfe_0xff_1.f90:6.13:

  if (achar (255) /= "\xFF") call abort
            1
Error: Extended ASCII not implemented: argument of ACHAR at (1) must be 
between 0 and 127
compiler exited with status 1
output is:
/svn/trunk/gcc/testsuite/gfortran.dg/string_0xfe_0xff_1.f90:6.13:

The testsuite ChangeLog contains:

but I do not see anything to correspond with this in the fortran ChangeLog.
