Hello world,
Paul T. posted a fix for PR 30865 in the PR itself, indicating
he couldn't do anything with this for a few weeks, so I am
submitting this for him.
A regression-test is currently underway on i686-pc-linux-gnu.
OK for trunk and 4.2 if this passes?

If dim is an optional argument, check for its
presence and call size0 or size1, respectively.
