avl and gfortran

   Actually this was my mistake. I just checked a stock build of
avl 3.26 built with the Intel 9.0 compilers (since the default
of avl's makefiles are set up for ifort). The resulting build
shows the same incorrect results for some of the steps in
the avl test scripts. We'll send some logs of the results from
the gcc 4.2 and Intel 9.0 compiler builds upstream and see
what the developers have to say.
