AFAICT the problem is

         character(0) h4(1:minval([(1,i=1,0)],1))
         character(size(h4)) sv1(size(x,1):size(h4))

minval([(1,i=1,0)],1) returns 2**31-1, the sv1 is a character array
of 2**31-7 elements of length 2**31-1. With -m64 this seems to be
computed exactly leading to 4611686001247518727+4089 bytes (don't 
ask me why 4089!-). With -m32 the result seems to be folded to 7 and
the code works.

If I use

         character(0) h4(1:minval([(2*size(x),i=1,size(x))],1))

the code works.
