OK - it looks a lot better!  I am pretty sure that I added the existing 
tangle when it was still part of gfc_conv_function_call..... sorry, 
everybody!

Regtests on FC5/Athlon.

Do you have the necessary paperwork or do you want somebody to do the 
committing for you?  We need a ChangeLog entry, such as that below ... 
is there a corresponding PR somewhere?
