For the record, I'm the person that converted gfortran to
use mpfr.  The original --with-mpfr and --with-mpfr-dir flags
were graphed from the --with-gmp[-dir] flags.  I've been
subscribed to fortran@ list since its inception.  There is/was
little to no email traffic concerning this (these) flags over
the last 2 to 3 years.  IMHO, I think the *-dir flags can go.
