I'm just complaining on a language basis -- to me, "cannot" is the 
opposite of "can", whereas in "can not" the negation is applied to the 
following part of the sentence before the "can" is applied.  Thus, if 
for example you have a choice about whether to do A, then "can do A" and 
"can not do A" are both true, but "cannot do A" is false.

I'll do a sweep at some point when I feel a need to procrastinate and 
don't feel like thinking too hard.  :)
