iso_varying_string and standard modules

Dear All,

I have been working on Erik Edelmann's prototype patch for allocatable 
structure components.  The time has come when it will run most of the 
testcases in Lawrie Schonfelder's testsuite and I am sure that it will 
not be long before they all work.. and who knows, perhaps they will not 
leak memory, either?

Roughly speaking, Erik is working on function calls and argument 
passing, whilst I am doing in-scope, automatic nulling and 
deallocation.  Constructors have yet to be touched but we are getting there.

Beyond the allocatble component patch itself, there is at least one 
standard module, iso_varying_string, that could be considered for 
inclusion in the gfortran distribution.  I recall that we had some 
discussion on the list about standard modules but am not sure where we 
wound up.  Is there an interest in distributing standard modules and, if 
so, how?
