migrating code from f77 to f90

Tobi,
   I don't think the question of the ability of linking together
Fortran 77 and 90 code in gfortran is at all appropriate to
comp.lang.fortran as it is a compiler specific question. If you
read XL Fortran's compiler feature list, IBM definitely makes it
seem like the ability to link together F77 and F90 code is an
enhancement specific to their compiler and not a standard feature
of Fortran 90.
