Newbie question

Hi!

Erm... That's certainly very obvious to most of you, but unfortunately
not to me... How does one apply a patch? (namely Thomas's Koenig
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2006-03/msg00980.html) Should I do it
manually, or is there a smarter way? Will I get a conflict when the
patch eventually makes its way to the mainline? Or alternatively is
there such a thing as an estimate for the review of this patch?
