I think such environment variables should also be listed in the man page.

I don't need a long description, a short list, possibly with a few words
of description, would be enough for a man page.

I like the full documentation (in PDF format or alternatively in HTML; I
don't like the info pages), but to quickly lookup an option, I think a
man page in unbeatable in fastness and searchability.
