PING: sudo fix for chmod_1, chmod_2, chmod_3, stat_1 and stat_2

   Could someone please checkin FX's proposed fix for the false failures
that occur in the chmod_1, chmod_2, chmod_3, stat_1 and stat_2 testcases
when run under sudo? The fix is at...

...and works fine on MacOS X 10.4. This will cut down on the noise on
my testsuite runs. Thanks in advance.
