segfault with gfortran > 4.0.3

Hi there

I've got some close-source code that is causing a segfault on newer
versions of gfortran. It works with gfortran 4.0.2 on FC4 and gfortran
4.0.3 on ubuntu 6.06, but crashes gfortran 4.1.x on FC5 and gfortran
4.2.0 experimental on windows (using today's downloaded installer from
the wiki).

There is a test tarball containing just the offending code at the redhat
bugzilla, see

I obtained permission from the develop to post that code; please note
that, nevertheless, it's not libre code.

If you could give me any suggstions for workarounds that I could pass
back to the developer (who I've CCed here), that would be great, else
I'll wait for a new version.
