Error trace in GFortran?

It has previously been suggested on the list that the libunwind
framework was a good way (already used by the java compiler) to get
implement such traces. Unfortunately, although I am interested in
getting this feature implemented, my readings of the corresponding
source in the java directories indicate that this is clearly outside
of my abilities.
