I do not know why this should be.  I barely use Cygwin anymore because 
Linices run make so much quicker.  You will note the hour at which I 
built the version that you say is not working!

My inclination is increasingly to delete the Cygwin binaries and to 
leave build instructions on the Wiki.  Providing them has become a waste 
of my time and, apparently, a waste of the poetential user's time.  
Applying Danny Smith's patch is not difficult and the rest is like 
falling off a log.
